The Lost makes me wonder; if I had been any of the people described in this heroic and tragic story, what would I have done? What if I were a Jew or Ukranian or a German? It is this compelling question along with the intriguing detective story by Daniel Mendelsohn, that made The Lost difficult to put down.

This is not told in the traditional linear way. It circles around on itself with lots of insights that have you saying to yourself - wow, I never thought of it that way OR so true, so true. If you've ever studied the Bible, there's an added bonus in store. Be warned, there is no way to whiz through this volume. It takes time.
