I loved this book. It dealt with difficult subject matters but ones that we need to realize are realities in many places. I feel in love with the characters. Love this writer's works.

This author is truly gifted and his style is aptivating, fluid, poetic, raw and does not hold anything back. I learned so much about history and politics in this region. I knew women were oppressed and horribly treated but this really took it to a whole other level, heartbreaking and shocking. Yet for all the darkness and unrelenting suffering these amazing women 'endure' it is beautiful in its lanaguage of love and humbling in a very profound way.

Based in Afghanistan , the book followed the lives of two woman and the oppression that they were under. Makes me glad I was born in the USA and still live here.

I really wasn't interested in reading this book when it was chosen for my book club. Even downloaded the audiobook because I thought it would be easier to get through. After all that, I really loved this book. Very touching, insightful, and heartwarming in the end.
