Very well written. Story of a child that grew in a family of "white trash". Interesting because provides insight on poverty, including breaking some conventional stereotypes. Parents are brilliant but chose a life of poverty because cannot face routine and responsibilities. Children learn to take care of each other and sometimes of the parents. It is not a dark depressing book, but makes you think about parenting, about what society can or cannot do to help, about the family bonds that can survive many assaults....
Highly recommended.
