Very well written. Story of a child that grew in a family of "white trash". Interesting because provides insight on poverty, including breaking some conventional stereotypes. Parents are brilliant but chose a life of poverty because cannot face routine and responsibilities. Children learn to take care of each other and sometimes of the parents. It is not a dark depressing book, but makes you think about parenting, about what society can or cannot do to help, about the family bonds that can survive many assaults....
Highly recommended.
When i first read this book i was thinking are you serious but after the first few pages i couldnt put it down. I really love this book and think you will enjoy it too. A must read!
I loved and hated every character in the book at one point. An addictive read!
