Fantastic book telling the story of Eliza Lucas Pinckney by Pamela Bauer Mueller. Eliza is a young girl when she takes over the running of three plantations with a vision to make the plantations profitable and to grow indigo - her struggles and achievements are much to be admired. Very interesting and inspiring. Really enjoyed the book and the discussions. It takes place in the mid 1700's.
I so enjoyed the book. Its not the kind of book I would normally read so I'm happy my book club chose it. It was a little slow at the beginning but the the by the middle it went too fast.
For a South Carolina woman, a great history of Charleston explanation!
