This was a very sappy, unrealistic love story. Characters seemed weak to me. Good for a very quick beach read and probably would make a good chick flick. Just not my kind of book.
I've seen three movies adapted from Sparks books and they're always a total downer...although I really loved The Notebook and A Walk to Remember. This was my 1st time reading a Nicholas Sparks book and it will be my last. It was too cheesy and read like a middle schooler had written it. Not good for book clubs...
The book wasn't great and it wasn't horrible either. It's sort of somewhere in the middle. I liked John Tyree as a character, but I thought Savannah was pretty annoying. Good as a quick read, or like someone else said, a "beach read."
This is just an okay book. It moves you and takes you on an emotional journey while you read it, but once your done and think back on it, the most poignent relationship in the book is the Father/Son relationship which is unexpected, not the romantic relationship which was what I expected. It does make you think about really loving someone and what that means, which lead our group to a pretty good discussion, but I wouldn't say that this book had us hooked. It's fluff, but sometimes groups need a break from deep-- if you do, this is a good book for that.
Things in life don't happen they way you want them to, but sometimes, they happen the way they are supposed to...you have to find the reason for it, and still find the way to be happy with it.
This book is one of Nicholas Sparks' best, I think. I was a bit optimistic at first, but ended up not being able to put the book down half way through, I finished the 2nd half in one night.
I LOVE this book! couldnt put it down! the movie was not good at all!
