Our club found this book rather depressing but that time in history was just that. Parts of the story were rather unbelievable in terms of her age, the freedom she was given by her father and the harshness of her father as well as we didn;t think her actions were that bad. We all thought the book was well-written and liked the presentation of chapters...very short...extremely effective.
