Devils island, a fictional place, is so named because it is inhabited by the misunderstood and endangered Tasmanian devil. Kerry, an Australian who had been working to rescue devils, is now a naturalist tour guide on Devils Island. Two American women, Jane and Brooke, have joined one of these tour groups.
This one tour is so full of suspense! The story is told from the perspectives of, mostly, Kerry and Brooke in alternating chapters. Just when you think one mystery is solved, another comes up.
First one tour guest disappears, feared lost in the woods, then it is learned that that guest has been having an affair with another guest. And the mysteries just keep happening. Added to this is treacherous weather.
I was surprisingly pleased with this story. But there was one drawback: the first 100 pages are kind of boring. After that, the story takes off, and most readers will tend to forgive the slow beginning. The authors almost lost me, though.
