Very well researched. Very little in the way of fiction; yet, my reading group enjoyed reading it as much as they enjoy reading fiction. Everyone learned something. Most of the club members hate history and historical fiction; however, the club has agreed to try two more historical fiction accounts.

I was dreading reading this book because I'm not a big history fan, but once I started I couldn't put it down. When I finished I gave it to my husband who read it in one day and then immediately went out and reserved her other two books at the library for us. It was very well written, informative and engaging - a definite must-read.

I just had to write as our Book Club read Michelle Moran book this week, CLEOPATRA'S DAUGHTER. We have never had that much discussion over a book! One of our members spent 5 hours on her computer looking up more history of that period. Overall, a great story, fast reading (I spent 5-6 hours),and a learning experience. Her afterthoughts were also worth talking about. Letters from 3000 years ago that could have been written today.

My Book Club got quite excited about this book. It was an interesting history lesson and story that made us want to explore more books by this author, Michele Moran. Although it was fiction, it was well-researched and took you back to the Roman Empire.

I was moved by the age of the main character as well as the drive and determination (which she obviously learned from her mother). In an age when woman were of little value - this one truly broke the mold! Just goes to show woman's rights have long been a timely topic. Our girls in the 21st Century will read this and certainly come away with some extra armour to help build their self confidence having learned from their distance "sister"!

"History for those that do not like history books" by cultural29 (see profile) 05/05/10

This book was very well written and I found that I could not put it down.

"interesting and informantive, the middle of the book dragged a bit" by dtcfife (see profile) 05/10/10

the beginning of the book was great, good backround on the history of egypt and storyline. Her life in Rome was uneventful, until the end when the story wraps up and she finally finds happiness. Nice twist at the end, but it felt like it took forever to get there. I actually enjoyed the end of the book, when the author tells what happens to each of the characters.

I really liked the book

"I liked how the author treated historic events and made them come alive" by ellentambo (see profile) 05/22/10

Took Latin in school, and have learned about Roman culture a bit. The book was good, enjoyable.

We actually won signed copies of this book from Book Movement (Thanks!) and when it came time to read it I didn't think I was going to like it. I was totally wrong. This book was impossible to put down. The characters came to life so vividly and knowing they were actual people from history made the book fascinating. I learned a lot about the history of Rome and the customs of that time and thought her added details were undetectable. We had a very good discussion about this book.

"Lends to much discussion" by iamom05 (see profile) 06/22/10

This book is very interesting. Our group discussed the book at length, one of our most discussed books, I'd say! It is very well written. The parts that she wove into the historical story were completely believable. Characters are well developed and you get a great sense of what life was like in that day. I have read few, if any, historical fiction novels and this was an excellent start.

"Good, but don't take it too seriously" by wmetz (see profile) 06/25/10

Cleopatra's Daughter was a colorful and intersting story, but it is a very light read (despite the 448 pages). Though there are a lot of dramatic historical events, the story is all about the young characters and the history of them is not completely believable. However, once I got past that, I really enjoyed the storylines the author chose, especially in the context of Octavian Rome. But, since the book is simply entertainment, there was not much thought-provoking materials for club discussion.

"Kleopatra Selene" by FriendshipSisters (see profile) 02/11/11

Great story of the daughter of Cleopatra's during her time in Rome. This book of historical fiction is very well researched and informative as well as a great read. You will enjoy every minute while turning the page.

It was a great, fast read. I enjoy historical fiction, a look into Roman times.

Interesting. Good review of history. could have been more explicit on Selene especially after she marries

This book starts off fast then tapers off for a slow, but interesting middle and finishes with a bang! I believe the best parts of this novel are the historical and author's note at the end. It really adds fullness to the picture of the real characters lives. I recommend this for any book club because you glean a small piece of history while being pulled into the intrigue and subterfuge of the Roman Empire. Two enthusiastic thumbs up!

The first half of the book seemed slow but in reality the author was setting the story up. After about page 200 or so, you'll be unable to put this book down!

"Author does a great job" by lwareham (see profile) 11/23/11

I like Michele Moran's books because she does such a good job of researching her subject to be as factual as possible.

"Good discussion" by ingsink (see profile) 04/07/12

Our group found this historical romance interesting, but sometimes confusing (some of us kept notes or often refered back to the character guide at the end of the book).

"Cleopatra's Daughter" by Annasnana (see profile) 10/07/13

This is the story of what happened to Cleopatra's daughter, after she and Mark Anthony died. I loved this book! It was well written, very informative and gives the reader a good sense of what life was like in Rome. This book prompted me to do a little research on Cleopatra's daughter, and her life was incredible!
