Whimiscal tale about discovering who you are meant to be and how others should see you; wrapped up in a town of family secrets and new romance.
I enjoyed the overall theme of this book. Quick read.
The Peach Keeper was simply a fun book to read with a few interesting questions raised about growing up and the evolution of friendship.
I thought this was an enjoyable read. I flew through it! It was suspenseful enough to keep me intested, but wasn't 'heavy.'
I would read another by this author.. in fact, i will for sure bc nikki gave me GardenSpell :)
Sarah Addison Allen touches on serious topics. Her books contain "darkness" - yet you finish with a feeling of optimism. A touch of gothic novel, mystery, and romance mixed with the unexplained (magical realism).
Interesting story of the evolution in the relationship of two young woman, who start disliking and distrusting each other, united in an effort to uncover the truth about skeletons in the family closets and the skeleton buried under the peach tree. Not greatly thought-provoking but sweet and engaging.
I LOVE Sarah Addison Allen. All of her books are magical. I think The Peach Keeper is one of my favorites. I get lost in her writing and the fantasy of where she might be going with each of her characters.
Nothing for a book group to discuss. Lacks depth of plot/characters/etc. It would make a "fun-day-at-the-beach" read, but not a book club choice.
A lovely story and quick, easy read. As with all of her books, a little magic & whimsy provides additional interest.
Friendships that can endure are rare and magical. Ms. Allen tells the tale of four women and their friendships across multiple decades. Wonderful story another amazing read.
This book was a pleasant read, but there's not a lot to it. A bit of a mystery, a little bit of romance, a happy ending. Not the most thrilling book, but it wasn't a waste of time.
It was a great book, filled with strong extraordinary women. Loved it!
A touching story about the depth of friendship and the strength of forgiveness. Agatha and Georgie were best friends back in the summer of 1936 until the appearance of a stranger seemed to have torn them apart. A women's society club founded in friendship begun in 1936 begins to unravel years later as husbands and children take a front row seat to the club. Seventy five years later the women's club is throwing a celebration of its origins but in the midst of the celebration plans mysteries from 1936 begin to surface. The present day players are forced to face the truth in both what has happened in their grandparents' past, what has happened in their own pasts and what their hearts desire for the future. This was a quick read but a beautiful story about friendship, endurance and hope.
