This is the second book in the Seven Sisters series. I don't usually read series, but after I read #1 (without realizing it was the first of 7 stories), I couldn't wait to get my hands on the next saga. It appears that both books pick up at the time of the unexpected death of "Pa Salt" - the father who adopted six daughters around the globe and raised them as his own. Each daughter has been named after the stars in Seven Sisters constellation. Upon his death he has left each daughter with a message and coordinates to aid them in the search for their origins - if they desire to seek the truth.

This story revolves around the second oldest daughter, an accomplished musician and an experienced and well known sailboat race competitor. The author has such a unique talent for throwing you in the midst of any location, any time period, any crisis and make you feel that you are actually there with the characters. Her ability to mix historical facts and time periods in a fictional story line is both unique and fascinating.

Abby's life moves around the world as she seeks excitement and athletic recognition only to find that what she received was the true meaning of life and love. So eloquently mixed in the present day story is the tale of life across Europe in the early 1900's up through WWII. The introduction to musical composition, opera, orchestra pits, etc. was so informative and enlightening.

This is a story of finding your place in life, coming to terms with disappointment and grief and emerging with a sense of purpose and a vision of what the future could hold. So far each of the two stories have held different outcomes and separate scenarios but leave you with a feeling that there is a connection and common ground in each daughter's origins. I'm completely smitten with this story line and await with anticipation the next journey with this family of unique and vibrant woman - who each obviously have a story to tell and a past that wants to be told.
