"Push, an intimate look at what abuse can do to societies children." by Deja2q (see profile) 08/17/09

I would say that Push was a well written story in content but at the same time difficult to read because of the subject matter. Dealing with child abuse can never be easy but the language also made it a very graphic and harsh story. The main character Precious is a powerful spirit. A definate read. Also the movie will be comming out in November as well. We plan to all see it together. We all liked the book.

"Precious Pushed until something happened" by mrsdrexler (see profile) 01/18/10

This book was hard to read at first, but after a couple of chapter you can get the hang of it. The main character Precious lives a hard life... two children by her father and her mother abuses her also and the ultimate death sentence...Aids. Precious is invisible to the world until she goes to alternative school and realizes that she does matter.

Once you read it, you won't be able to stop thinking about it.

Good story line, but continued graphic descriptions of abuse were overused and not necessary. Thought the ending felt unfinished.

"Off Topic" by rgs159 (see profile) 02/25/10

I won't lie; it was a difficult novel to get through. As much as we admired Precious for trying to make something of herself, we hated a despised her parents. The group, all mothers, had a difficult time understanding how a mother could allow such a thing to happen. Yet, with the recent allegations of Mackenzie Phillips, we agreed that apparently it does happen. What made us keep picking up the book even though it was tough was knowing that Precious needed someone in her corner cheering her on.

"Disgusting" by nlagel (see profile) 06/09/10

Really makes you wonder what sick / twisted mind would come up with this kind of story - it isn't even based on a true story... Disgusting. It made me wonder if I am too closed minded, am I not accepting of these kind of people? No, I shouldn't accept inbreeding, child abusing people. No one should. Awful book and story. Inspiring? a teenager having two babies by her daddy? And doing all she can to raise them! Yes, let's promote teens having babies and raising them on their own. Awful.
