A great read! Excellent second book in trilogy. Can't wait to start the third! What an interesting, different, strong and complicated leading woman.
The continuing saga of "The Girl with the Dragon Tatoo" only gets better. I can hardly wait for the third book to come out!
The second compelling installment in this series, in which much is (eventually) revealed about the forces that shaped Lisbeth's life.
Can't wait for the third and final book! Even though Stieg Larsson is very wordy, I still feel like I want more of the story.
Awesome characters, the story is fast paced and hard to put down. I liked this book even better than Dragon tatoo. The foreshadowing of Lisbeth in the first book and how Larson brings her story to life in this book is so perfect. A book full of suprises!
It was almost as if this sequel were written by another author. I might have liked it better if I hadn't read The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo first - the bar was very high for the second novel, and Larsen didn't reach it.
I absolutely loved the book. Once I started reading it I had a hard time putting it down.
The Girl Who Played With Fire answers the questions about Lisabeth's background. One member bought the 3 book series and started reading the second as the club was discussing it and will go back to read the first. Another member who has finished the series was sadden to have the story come to an end. Is sex traffic and violence this horrific? Yes, and worst. Lisabeth is one of the strongest female fiction characters and we are cheering her on!
I enjoyed the second book even more than the first as it answered many questions about Lisbeth's childhood. It's a thick book, but it goes quickly as you never want to put it down.
This book was exciting from the very beginning. Wonderfully written.
Excellent follow up to first book. Answered lots of questions from first book.
I love, love, loved this book! I coulnd't put it down. I was surprised because the first book in the series was a little boring for me. I loved the Salendar charater and know this is one I will re-read over and over again.
“The Girl Who Played With Fire”, by Stieg Larsson
“The Girl Who Played with Fire” is the second novel in which Stieg Larsson couples the wit and wisdom of Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist. It is another sensational read, one that keeps the reader tingling with excitement, as each page is turned. Salander continues her illicit ‘hacking’ ways when she sees a picture of herself splashed on the front pages of local newspapers announcing that she is ‘WANTED’ for triple murders and there’s a ‘police hunt for her, a psychotic mass murderer.’
Salander then hacks into Blomkvists laptop, finds a message he’s left for her, and their quest to prove her innocence by locating the actual murderer begins. This novel exposes the ‘sex trafficking trade’ in Sweden and is filled with twists, turns, deceit, and betrayal. Much is also revealed surrounding the mysterious circumstances and the obscurity of Salanders past. She is a smart, strong, stubborn, and flawed protagonist, one about which the reader is inclined to care.
If you haven’t read this book or ‘The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo’, “Why,” may I ask, “are you waiting”? “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest”, the third and last novel about Lisbeth Salander, goes on sale May 25th, and I can hardly wait to curl up with this last Salander saga.

I enjoyed this second book in the "trilogy". It didn't take as long to get into as the first one and had lots of adventure. What I truly enjoy about these books are the several story lines going on at once - especially the character development. I 'm anxious to now watch the movie!
2nd book in page-turner trilogy. Cleverly woven plot. Continues theme of justice/revenge for women against men who abuse women. Story of courageous Lizbeth Salander's search for father who so abuse her mom that she was institutionalized, only to discover a brother of the same fabric.
I liked it. I enjoyed how it delves quite a bit more into the life of Lizbeth and explains more of why she is the way she is. It also showed more of her "softer side" in her interactions with her previous gaurdian.
I thought this story was fabulous! Well-written, with many suprising twists. Larsson did an outstanding job bringing readers up to speed if they had not read the first novel. I must add a caustion, though...the sexual content was way over the top for me, personally. Other than that, I would highly recommend this book and look forward to reading "Hornet's Nest"
Just like the first book, this one is exciting, and thrilling. In my opinion, it was less dark and has a quicker pace.
Everybody loved the book and we are going to read the third book.
great beach read, read 'dragon tattoo' first. not a great book club discussion book.
Even though this book in a page turner, there are a lot of characters to keep track of with a beginning that seems pointless in the end. The story itself was great and you became entranced with Salander. Well written.
In this book you get to know and understand Salander much better.
Enjoyed this book. Nice to be able to pick up and keep reading in the series. Great to find out some background on our main characters. Really liked it!
I liked the first book but I hate the author's excruciating details that make the story boing and have nothing to do with the book. He continued it in this book. The story itself was good but the author's writing is too much and left me not wanting to read the third one. While I recommend it because the story inside was good, I have to say overall I disliked it. So I am kind of torn with my review.
Page-turner. Read 100 pgs/day, no problem. Lisbeth's virtues and strengths were underestimated by almost everybody, the evil & the good. Of the three books in Larson's trilogy, this is Lisbeth's story. There is some graphic violence, but you can skip over it.
A little too detailed for my taste, but well worth the read. Can't wait to pick up the 3rd book!
