This book was adventurous to me, not typical mind you but adventurous. These four people may start out dismal but do not end up that way. For such a dark subject, it turned out to be quite funny. I laughed out loud several times in part three of this book. It's like they all just wanted a clean slate...and who dosen't want that every now and again.
Fun usually isn't a word I'd use to describe a book about suicidal thoughts, but 'A Long Way Down' has a lot more to it than any brief summary could convey. The characters feel real; they're funny, and troubled, and flawed in very believable ways. Their banter sounds like true conversation, and I had a great time traveling with them from the roof of Topper's House and beyond.
