Great book about the late medieval period in Paris. It is the story of obsessive love intertwined with Hugo descriptions of how one art form surpasses another. Hugo tells the story of Esmeralda, a gypsy girl and the four men who love her. Two betray her because they cannot have her. The other two love her, but one becomes obsessed with her.
