Being a huge fan of the Twentieth Wife and Feast of Roses, I could not wait for the last of the trilogy, Shadow Princess to be released. And the book met my expectations above and beyond! Shadow Princess not only brings history’s most famous story of the Taj Mahal to life, but also the characters we don’t know as much about: the children of the famous love duo.
I enjoyed how the historical fiction novel chronicles the life, love and tragedy of Shah Jahan and his sons and daughters, their quest for affection and title of the crown---all in full detail, bringing in emotions, descriptions and surroundings of that time. Each sibling had an individual personality, each unique from a perspective that made sense and you could empathize with each based on his or her motives and drives.
Often times when you read a book from an author, you are disappointed if their next book is not of the same caliber. But the trilogy does not disappoint!
I really like historical fiction and was so interested in India during the time of the building of the Taj Mahal. Politics, murder, romance....
