The book prompted a very active discussion about the character and his situation. The protagonist was engaging, but not always likeable, and the plot of the book was eye opening about India's culture of the poor. The style of the narration was brilliantly written.

most of the club members enjoyed the book. Two of the members HATED IT! but we did have a lively discussion and it was one of our better meetings. We plan to read Major Pettigrew"s (something else but don't have my notes handy)

Interesting form of writing where the entire story is a letter to someone else.
