"The take away message is why one should read this book." by pinkninja (see profile) 06/28/12

I read this book for the message behind the writing. The author, Eileen Rudnick, will be recovering from her traumatic brain injury for the rest of her life. Her writing reflects the stages she was in during each section of the book. Her style very much captures her personality and demeanor: straight forward, honest and serene. That said, the message that hits home is that one need not be defined by the life draining side effects that come with the label of victim. We must alternatively choose to love those around us and push ourselves to our maximum potential. Very clearly her innner strength and determination shine through in her writing; in each stage of recovery she drove herself to the next often by sheer will. The beautiful thing is that none of it is tainted with bitterness, she has managed to embrace the human condition and love her fellow man because of it. Our book club had the pleasure of meeting with Mrs. Rudnick, and will be always grateful for the opportunity.
