I don't want to give anything away since my club is reading this book right now, but Marilee Brothers is a good writer. I really enjoyed how she was able to capture how a 15 year old girl would think. I definitely would suggest this to nieces and nephews.

The Gang activity and racial remarks bugged me.
It seemed to take place in a rural area yet tried to give an urban Mexican gang feel to it at times. Not sure Washington State is the best place for the setting.
