"The question raised was better than the book" by Kandee (see profile) 06/17/11

I liked the question raised...if you finally met your soul mate but found out he'd been married eight times, what would you do? I liked the story of Beth & her grandparents better than Beth & Rory. This book was okay but not great.

This was a fun read, not very deep or involved as far as plot lines are concerned, but helped you view things from a different perspective. Cute and cautiously optimistic would describe it best.

Although I read this book fairly quick because it was an easy read, it just never "got there" for me. I wanted to like it but there was no depth to the characters and at times was easy to get lost in the conversations of the characters. I almost felt like I could see the author playing the conversations out in her head while no one else understands what she's saying because she's leaving out important tid bits. I wanted to like Rory because he had the most history but Beth the main character isn't even vanilla, she's cardboard.

"Take it or leave it" by KWest (see profile) 01/24/12

This book was pretty fluffy, and I expected that from the subject matter. It doesn't generate deep discussion, but some interesting insights and experiences from club members. I'd give it 2.5 stars if I could. I was just ok.
