As a club we liked this book. It was an easy read that was great for us. The symbolizm was interesting and we enjoyed it. Most of us had read it as kids but a fun reread as an adult to bring out another perspective.

While The Secret Garden is looked upon as a children's story, adults are never too old to be reminded that it is far too easy to set limitations upon ourselves and others than it is to believe that everything is possible. It is a wonderful, sweet story of the innocence of children, overcoming boundaries set by overly cautious adults and the beauty and blessings that are out there waiting to anyone with an open mind.

This book yet made for children, sure inspired our book club. Our host wanted to read a classic for our two year anniversay and this was just great. I myself had never read it and enjoyed it along with the illustration as well. I felt joy when the characters felt joy, i felt sad when they felt sad. It was very moving, fun and joyous to see the story play out like it did.

A young girl is sent from India to live with her uncle in England after her parents died. She discovers a new world in which to grow, and helps her sickly cousin gain health. How she goes from a self-absorbed little girl to a cheerful, outgoing one makes a wonderful story.

Such a sweet story, with beautiful imagery and an uplifting message, but a bit overly simplistic and not the greatest writing. Repetitive dialogue and somewhat flat characters.
