Written for a younger crowd. However, our group was still able to find enough to discuss about relationships, peer pressure, "mean girls", etc.
I thought this book was pretty good for a YA novel. At first I hated the feeling of reliving high school and having this inside look at the mean girls. After the initial story line gets laid down, I found it much more relatable. The lessons are obvious and some of it is hard to read, but in a way, it gives you hope that deep down, there's a decent person inside everyone.
Before I Fall is the story of a typical high school "mean girl" who, when killed in an accident, is forced to re-live her last day 7 times in a row a la Groundhog Day. I generally enjoy reading about teenagers but struggled a bit with this one; I found some of the plot lines a bit predictable & a few of the characters one-dimensional. There is one plot line surrounding a romantic relationship that I thought was the most engaging, but probably just because one of the participating characters was my favorite character overall from the book.
Overall, I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure just how much there will be to truly discuss. We'll see!
