The book was interesting in that it provided insight into the art world and the New York beat. However, I thought it was anticlimatic and seemed to drag in places. A couple of spots seemed to be building up to something big but then went flat.

Interesting as a history of the 90s art world but not very well written.

Overall I thought it was an intersting book. Never learned so much about Art. Some parts were a bit slow, but overall not a bad read, very different than I expected.

There's something really wonderful about sitting down with a Steve Martin book, ok there are several really wonderful things about it. It's always pleasantly surprising what you take away from his work. His keen insight and sharp wit blend beautifully to take you places you aren't expecting. It's always a real joy to read whatever it is he happens to be writing.

Steve Martin's expertise about art is interesting, but I didn't really get the point other than an ambitious young lady crosses the line of ethics and behavior.

Sadly though I felt this book was very well written and I learned a lot about the world of art, I can't recommend it. I couldn't get invested in the main character so really didn't care what she did or what happened to her. I also was waiting for something to happen and when it did, I found it very anticlimactic.

Interesting but quick read about the New York art world. Our book club enjoyed it and had a lively discussion comparing it in part to Tom Wolfe who we had just read - both sarcastic views.
