"An inside look into a battle for the Presidency by fierce contenders." by thewanderingjew (see profile) 04/15/25

Fight: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House, Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes, authors, Joe Knezevich, narrator
As the Democrats watched the disastrous debate between President Biden and former President Trump, they had but one thought, and it wasn’t that Biden was incompetent. No, they thought, why did we put him out there? They had hoped to continue to cover up the fact that the leader of the free world was non compos mentis. This was the central message of the book for me, as it tells the story of a President and a Party that manipulated the election with a blackmailed news media and a compromised Justice Department bent on protecting a “basement Biden” at all costs. To do this they hid the truth. As more and more of their dirty tactics are now being exposed, one day they may have to admit that the 2020 election was unfair and unjust, and the Democrats, lacking in virtue, were trying to do the same thing in 2024.
The authors of this book were very clearly disappointed with the outcome of the election in 2024, between Kamala Harris and Donald J. Trump, but often their reasons were based on their political emotion and resentment, rather than political fact. Still, they have illustrated the recent contentious battle for the Presidency, exposing its very underbelly, as it even reached back into history, into the 2020 election, as well, though it did not admit that the Democrats had a hand in the January 6th rally that went awry. Many of the facts in this book are twisted to paint a more honorable picture of the Democrats which is undeserved. The authors did not believe that the election was unfairly rigged, but as more and more information is exposed about the influence of the Democrats on the media and the justice system, it becomes even more likely that it was, at the very least, not a fair fight in 2020. We now know that the Democrats controlled and disseminated a false and dishonest message about both Trump and the Bidens, favoring one while it maligned the other with falsehoods!
From the get-go, the Democrats refused to acknowledge that Biden was mentally challenged. Then they lied about the Hunter Biden laptop and manipulated the courts when it came to Hunter’s criminal investigation about gun possession and tax evasion. They colluded with the FBI, the State Department, and the Department of Justice to malign and embarrass Donald Trump with a raid on his home, false indictments and Kangaroo Courts. They hid information on January 6th as well, placing FBI agents in the midst to possibly incite the rally goers, while refusing adequate security. The belief that the Presidency belonged to them in 2020 and in 2024, motivated the Democrat’s unscrupulous and dishonest behavior.
Although, it was growing more and more apparent that Biden was unfit for the office he held, the Democrats doubled down and refused to force him to take a cognitive test, insisting that he had no issues. Then and now, they falsely accused Trump of being mentally compromised, although he has taken several cognitive tests and passed them with flying colors. His physical and mental health surpasses that of most people his age. The left deliberately hid Biden’s frailty. Jill Biden had to have known they were putting a puppet into the White House, but they were blind with derangement and promoted violent rhetoric against Trump that led to attacks on his very life. We now know that the left controlled the message that defined and maligned President Trump, while they lied intentionally, promoting Biden.
This book seemed to dwell more on the Bidens and Harris, perhaps to try and forgive or excuse their malicious behavior, as they continue to falsely accuse Trump of atrocious acts he did not commit. Trump has been, and is nothing if not transparent, and while we all know that he can be difficult, his heart is, and has always been, bent on helping America, in ways that the Democrats no longer even address. Instead, they have become the party of extreme and unacceptable policies. They even malign parents who care about their children’s welfare. They, like dictators, demand that we accept bizarre behavior as normal. They have become the Party of the fringe, the indigent and the unproductive. Yet, their policies do not promote their health, but instead they keep them downtrodden and dysfunctional. The authors do not readily admit to the lies and the cheating of the Democrat Party, or to the extremists and fanatics in their organization, but they do expose some of it, inadvertently. I think they did expose the devious manipulation of the Democrats while at the same time they exposed Trump’s tendency toward bluster and exaggeration. Basically, both the left and right were accused of being narcissistic and stubborn, demanding their own points of view, but, oddly, I thought they showed Trump to be more willing to compromise than Biden was, because Biden was even more stubborn, almost like a child having tantrums. It seemed as if they felt that Trump was more willing to listen to advisors, while Biden was more of a know-it-all, which, sadly, eventually led to the Afghanistan debacle.
Democrats lost the election, as they should have also lost in 2020, because they put up incompetent candidates and became the party of radicals who, motivated by hate, would do anything in order to win, even if it crossed the lines of legality and honor. Fortunately, their means did not wind up justifying their end. The Republicans are no longer tolerating the lawfare or the lies, and they are hoping to take the fraud, abuse, DEI, incompetence, laziness and self-serving corruption out of our government so we can trust it again. A blackmailed, dishonest media will no longer be tolerated, nor will a Party that pretends it is virtuous while it does everything underhanded that it possibly can get away with. We are no longer blinded by the dishonest tactics used to shield their incompetence and hide their failures. The fake room for news conferences is shuttered, the fluorescent strips placed on the floor to guide Biden are gone, the special shoes to hold him upright are no longer necessary, the lid for most of the day is now eliminated as Trump is always willing to answer questions. We have a President who has vigor and mindfulness.
Yet, even with all their trickery exposed, the Democrats still lie about Trump and prop up Biden and Harris! They still indoctrinate students in schools and also their followers with their messages of hate and their violent rhetoric! Now we have a President who does not need cheat sheets and who, even after threats on his life, remains strong. So, while Trump is exposed as bombastic, and even occasionally acting like a buffoon, with loose lips, he is never incompetent as Harris and Biden were. This book should really have highlighted Trump’s successes, but it didn’t. Instead, to justify Biden’s frailty and his administrations failures, they maligned Trump alongside Biden, painting Trump with the same brush, obstructing him as usual! Main Street Media negatively defined him. Trump often had to stand aside as they attempted to destroy him, as they pretended to be innocent. Few people could have withstood the shameful behavior of the Democrats. Trump’s people wanted to let Biden destroy himself, and ultimately, he did, but then there was Harris, the loose cannon, who was suddenly transformed into the darling of the Party. Previously, she had one of the lowest ratings of a Vice President on record.
The Democrats had to tread very carefully now, because they already risked losing the Jewish vote, they could not risk losing the black vote. For the Democrats, the optics were more important than the message. Trump had to make his message more positive to counteract theirs. The authors promoted the idea that Trump’s most important demand was that the people with him had to believe in the rigged election, his innocence, and the idea that he was being attacked and accused unjustly with lawfare. Although the authors made this a major issue, as if Biden’s people were not rubber stamps for him, it did not seem to hurt Trump, since no one wants enemies in their court. Clyburn’s insistence on race as a factor, and not tolerating the idea of Gretchen Whitmer as the better candidate, did not help the Democrat’s cause. Still, the media immediately turned the tables and began to promote the new and improved Harris as they had promoted the false image of a vibrant Biden. Soon, however, it became increasingly obvious that the left was the party of the fringe elements of society and not the mainstream. Nancy Pelosi, Barack Obama and George Clooney all turned into Brutus to destroy Biden. Their behavior proved that the media, corrupt as it was, was in their camp and in charge of a message that could turn the tide of the election. The authors and the press portrayed Trump as a convicted felon, while Harris was a Saint.
In this book, the authors created the pretense that Biden was the very mild-mannered, forgetful old man portrayed by Special Counsel Robert Hur, and Harris was far more virtuous than she was known to be by those with whom she worked. They painted her as someone who never wanted her race to be influential and was given the jobs that Biden could not handle, and yet they forgot that she used her race in her 2019 Presidential campaign when she accused Biden of racism, and they forgot that she failed in every job she was given. Then Pence was introduced, the Vice President who could have been more supportive of Trump, as Harris was supposedly of Biden, but he had his own delusions of grandeur, and he showed his lack of character when he not only did not support Trump in 2020, but then he went on to offer advice to Harris’ people about how to defeat Trump when they met at an airport. So, this was a tale about the messaging surrounding two Vice Presidents, as well, and their ultimate futures. One Vice President supposedly remained loyal, Harris, and one was a traitor to his President, Pence. Both lost their place in the political world, and both had a profound influence on the two elections in which they were involved.
In the end, it was not Biden’s illness at the debate that caused his ultimate demise and the shame that followed him. His fall from grace was due more to his incompetence that had previously been successfully denied and/or hidden by his associates, family, celebrities, donors, and administration. Suddenly, the real Biden was exposed to the millions who had tuned in hoping to see him thrash Trump, but instead, he was exposed as was the carefully designed effort of the Democrats to organize every event he was engaged in, so that he would be propped up and have limited time to expose his own real deficiencies and true weakness. Trump won this election in 2024, not because of their poor campaign, their tricks and their manipulated selection of a candidate, or because of Clyburn’s interference, injecting race and insisting only on Harris although she was not the best candidate, he won this time because he was the better and more competent candidate and because this time their deception and interference failed.
I did wonder how these authors were able to find out things that were said at particular times and places since there were no quotes or attributions provided.
