This book is partially based on true events. The point which crosses from fact into fiction is tangible and obvious. The beginning is well written and vivid, however, the last 1/3 of the text, written with full artistic liberty, is tedious at best. My Abandonment is very similar to Glass Castles, including mental illness, homelessness and a delusional sense of superiority. Not recommended for a book group, maybe for a long flight to Australia.
