"Great love endures time, heartache and distance. And even when all seems lost, true love lives on.". Sarah Jio's first novel, The Violets of March, is a story of lost love and the healing powers that a new love brings. The story takes place on Bainbridge Island in the Pacific Northwest. I found myself wanting to visit this island on my next vacation, placing my toes in the sand, smelling the ocean water and watching the tides roll to shore. I was reminded just how much the ocean is like our lives with tides, beauty, death and new life. Loved the story within the story. Great summer read.

Set on Bainbridge Island, WA, Emily finds a diary in a room in her Aunt's house that she's never been in. As she tries to uncover the author of this diary and if the story she has read is true, she uncovers a web of secrets that have been buried for decades.

This book was a page turner. I wished it was longer...

After about 10-15 pages, I was hooked on this book and could not put it down. I love a mystery and especially one that deals with strong emotions and family ties. This is such a captivating story about uncovering the past so that the present will have meaning and the future can be more than a dream. The story unfolded in such a way that I never saw the end coming. Truth be told, I finished it and was so sad to see it end, I immediately had to skim through it a second time just to unlock all of my unanswered questions. And the answers are there - hidden in such a seductive way. A must read for anyone who likes a good mystery. I can't wait for her next book.

What a lovely read! The parallel story lines weave and intertwine beautifully through the skilled and artful words of the talented Sarah Jio. Set in the 40s & present day, this novel has me dreaming about traveling to Bainbridge Island. Now, a huge Jio fan, I can't wait 'til the release of her fifth novel!

Intriguing and often difficult to follow, suggest keeping a character list. It kept our group going all evening. We ll liked it and had different points to bring up about the situations in the book.
