This novel brings the Vietnam War to vivid life. Unfortunately, I didn't find the author to be a good writer, nor his characters to be memorable. I've forgotten them already.

Riveting fictional look at the Vietnam war written by a former Marine LT that took over 30 years to get written and published. I couldn't put it down, and those characters have stayed with me since I read it a year ago. Probably not a normal "pick" for a woman's bookclub, but I was surprised I loved it cause it's not my usual reading material either. Made numerous "Best of 2010" lists. I highly recommend this well written and very compelling book.

I think this is really what Vietnam was like. Shame on us, the government, and miltary for how we treated our children.
