I liked the book. Some of the characters were too much like caricatures. It provided for a lot of interesting discussion among our group of stay-at-home & working moms.
I struggled to get through this book. I found the plot to have little substance and I found the main character to be exhausting to read about. It seemed to go nowhere. :-(
This could potentially be a good book club book, depending on the group that is meeting. We only had one person who is a mother and she probably enjoyed the book the most because she could relate the best. It was a fairly easy book to read but the plot did not seem to go anywhere. There was not a whole lot to discuss at our book club meeting because the book did not offer a lot. Many people did not finish the book. I enjoyed her writing style but did not feel as if I could connect with the character very well.
While the author tends to tell the same story throughout this entire book, she throws in enough tender moments, humorous moments and life experience moments that any wife/mother/worker will find entertaining. Don't expect the movie to be anything like the book. Kate is more human in the book.
