"The Forgetting Tree: A Novel" by njhowards (see profile) 08/29/12

"The Forgetting Tree" follows a family in the aftermath of a tragedy and is mainly narrated by the mother Claire. The Baumsarg family lives on a citrus ranch that offers Claire relief from the tragedy but ultimately pulls them apart. Years later, Claire becomes ill and the family are back in crisis mode. One of Claire's daughters brings home a stranger named Minna to care for her. Minna brings mystery and intrigue as she becomes Claire's caregiver and constant companion. This well-written, haunting novel ends with a surprising plot twist and shows how the grieving process can ultimately lead to healing and renewal.
