The edited and watered down racism throughout this book, was about the only real discussion we had. There was a lack of suspense and imagination in the writing. We were overall, not pleased with this one.
If you love murder mysteries you will love this book by Agatha Christy. It is full of characters you like and characters you absolutely wouldn't trust! It was very adventurous and it kept you looking over your shoulder at the other characters in the story. It almost reads as if you, the reader, are an eleventh guest of U. N. Owen.
First thing to keep in mind when you start this book is when it was written. It isn't a modern day mystery book. It is Agatha Christie. The premise is unlike anything I have ever read before. I couldn't put it down. Our club hasn't meet on this book yet, but I have talked to a few members and everyone seems to be enjoying it. We have discussed reading some classics for a change of pace, so this was a nice start. I will be surprised if anyone in the club says that they figured out who the murderer was.
No one in our club was able to figure it out before reading the ending. It kept us all guessing.
Kept me intrigued and curious all the way. Interesting and easy read.
It was hard to find three words above to describe this book. The most fitting is definitely fun. It is a timeless mystery that is so easy to read. Our club enjoyed it and had a great discussion about the imagination it took to create such a mystery and the different qualities of the characters. Also a lot of discussion about how personal guilt can eat you up without being convicted of wrongdoing. When you need something light one month, choose a book like this one.
This book is a fun read for a summer by the pool read. It is not a deep book , it just a relaxinb little book.
This is the second book I’ve read from Agatha Christie, and I can comfortably say that this was an intriguing and enjoyable mystery. It was a little confusing at first, but it still didn’t stop me from reading and trying to figure out who was the murderer.
Super fast read, but a very complex mystery. 10 people are brought to an island and one by one they are killed. Who did it? Very clever. It will keep you guessing, and when the final page is turned, you will be quite surprised.
