Laura Bush provides a glimps into the world of presidency and the white house. Because of her politeness, good heart and also utmost respect for their and her position, she only allows the reader short but endearing insights to all those famous and truly powerful people she encountered throughout her life. She never talks ill of anybody, not even the press, Reed and Pilosi, which in itself is quite an achievement. While reading, I had moments of tears, laughter and also of shouting out "yes, I remember that!".
It was very slow reading. Parts of it were really interesting, but other parts were very boring. There was not a lot of personal information revealed in this book.
I'm glad that I read it and I think that this book would generate a lot of discussion for a book club. I felt that Ms. Bush did not give enough detail about herself and her feelings about her life and too much information about the mechanics of it.
This is a rather thick book, so I was a little hesitant to begin reading it. Some other people who had read the book said that it was interesting, but a little too wordy.
Once I started reading the book myself, I could not put it down. It is very, very interesting and well-written.
Very detailed look into the life of the Bush's during 9/11, the invasion of Iraq, and all that we have been through as a nation since that time. A bit bogged down with details, but overall very interesteing.
Love Laura Bush but the book was way too detailed
