I read this for a bookclub discussion and everyone of us said it was one of the best reads we’ve had. Most memorable.
This is a gem of book. Words to describe Have You Seen Luis Velez? Uplifting, thought-provoking, encouraging, and big-hearted. If you need any of those ideas in your life (and who doesn't), then I highly recommend this book. It is a simple reminder that if you want to see good in the world, YOU need to be the one to do good.
I read this book during the Covid-19 pandemic. Being confined to the house for weeks on end is a little shocking for us all. This book gave me a peaceful feeling, one of reassurance that this too will pass.
Catherine Ryan Howard has penned another uplifting story. While this book was probably written for a young adult audience, the story can be enjoyed by any age. As a mixed race teen, Raymond Jaffe feels he does not belong at either his mom's home or his father's. He befriends a blind elderly woman when she is missing visits from her regular caregiver. The story addresses the teen's search for the caregiver and his overcoming his own insecurities. In this time of so much angst, this was the story that I needed to read to lift my spirits.
