Doc is haunted by a ghost that only he can see and talk to, the ghost of singer Hank Williams. He has to get a fix in the morning just so he can live and to live, he patches up gun shot victims and performs abortions. When he encounters a young Mexican girl who is in trouble, his world begins to change and soon those other troubled souls living in the lowest part of San Antonio also start to change their lives.
