"Not a bad first novel" by wexworth (see profile) 07/28/12

Most of us found this book fairly enjoyable. A few people said they wouldn't have finished it if it hadn't been for book club. Most of us felt that the elements of the story were a bit disjointed and never quite gelled into a cohesive theme. The book never seemed to be clearly about one theme. Was it about the sisters? Immigration? Globalization? Family secrets? It jumped from element to element without committing to one track. However, the language was good and drew most of us in most of the time, despite the disjoins.
