"The book is a little on the quirky side and not all book club members may like this style of writing." by hamilbird (see profile) 08/25/08

A consumptive heroine has many adventures as she travels West in search of her 2nd-rate artist lover and is people by many quirky characters and happenings. I found this book to be an enjoyable read but some in our book club thought it was a bit too quirky - especially the characters. This author's previous book, "Mirabalis" also had many quirky characters and events. Breath and Bones is borderline magical realism so if you like that writing style you'll probably enjoy this read and find much to discuss.
