This was a very interesting take on the historic version we have all come to believe. It was really insightful to learn about the woman behind the traitor. The story was an easy read and the period theme was great for our book club meeting. We prepared some of the food they ate in the book and drank wine.
Our group really enjoyed this book. We had never read anything about the Revolutionary War era and we really enjoyed learning about this time period.
This was an easy read because the writing was not as sophisticated as some of us would have liked. We did all agree, however, that the author provided a different view of Benedict Arnold and his motives for trying to give West Point to the British. Not all the scenes were convincing for the time period, but in general the book was interesting enough for a good discussion.
Our book club really enjoyed this book. When you hear the name Benedict Arnold what comes to mind. Most of us knew nothing about him other than he was a traitor. This historic fiction gave us insight into the man his family and the times.
