This is one of the most inspiring books I've ever read. It should be a community read book. Although it reads like fiction this non-fiction book keeps you riveted from beginning to end and beyond. I thought I had holocaust books from almost every angle possible, but I was wrong. I will read this one again.

A great story of a forgotten hero

Not just another book about the Holocaust. Ranks right up there with Schindler's List in portraying the events of life in the Polish Ghetto. Although Irena Sendler didn't feel that she had done enough, this story shows just how much one person can do to make a difference in so many lives. Based on a true story, which not many people know about. Definitely worth reading!

We found this book hard to read, because if the graphic descriptions of life in the Warsaw ghetto. However, we need to know what happened so all of us were glad we read it. To think that Irene story went untold for so many years is appalling. We need to celebrate heroes and she truly is one. The girls who researched her story should also be celebrated.
