This book is beautifully written. A very quick read. I am looking forward to a great discussion regarding race, motherhood, and how we define our place in this world.

This is a story of a young girl who has a Danish mother and an African American GI father and how she deals with life after she falls from a roof. The circumstances are mysterious surrounding the fall of the young girl and the death of her mother and two brothers. The story is dramatic, informative about being black and white, and insightful and poignant because the author is both black and Danish.

Terrible. I could care less about any of the characters. The story could have been done so much better. I wanted to feel something because I was extremely interested in the cover but it left be feeling what a waste of time. Disappointing. Our book club did not like this book at all.

This is a book worth discussing in any book club. The writing is wonderfully suited to the characters and story. While a tragic event leads to the life experiences of a young woman and others, it tells as much about race relations in this country.

Rachel is a child that has never had to face her racial identity until after the tragic deaths of her mother and siblings. THE GIRL WHO FELL FROM THE SKY is so much more than a tragic story of the suicide of Rachel's mother, the murder of her siblings, and Rachel's injuries and survival. It is part coming-of-age, part search for identity, and part race relations in a wholly non-threatening manner. This book provides much food for thought and discussion. Don't be afraid to read it because it just may surprise you how much you'll enjoy it.

A very dark and disturbing story of a young girl that survives a horrific accident. My bookclub did not enjoy this book at all.
