This book was long and wordy. While I learned some new information I didn't know about WWII the way it jumped around from one branch of relatives to another was confusing. It would have been helpful to have a family tree to keep everyone straight. Many of the family went through horrific events during the war and the book showed their courage tenacity and endurance.
The actual story behind the most recent movie of similar name: "The Woman in Gold". Portrays the story of the seductive Adele Bloch-Bauer and Gustav Klimt. One of the most famous masterpieces confiscated by the Nazi's during WWII. Also provides insight of the developments leading to same. The movie only covers mostly end of book and the ensuing battle to retrieve the family's most significant stolen piece of art and the return after a long court battle that spanned two continents. The book can be difficult at times due to the authors extensive historical research. A great book for art lovers and history buffs. I will be presenting to my MD book club in Sept. Anita F. Parton
