A well written novel on another angle of the Holocaust. Our Book Club agreed that this was one of the best books we have written and we could not put it down.
From the first page to the very last this book was hard to put down. A legal thriller and a poignant look back into the lives of small town Poland during World War II. The descriptions of Europe and what was happening from a human perspective in the 1940's were so vivid.
Fabulous read! Loved it and couldn't put it down. We actually invited the author to our book club since we are also in Chicago. Very moving and engaging story and characters! Bravo.
Loved it! Wonderfully written love story wrapped around the holocaust. Educational about what occurred in the part of Europe.
This story was creative and persuasive. However, after reading several other books on WWII and the Holocaust (Invisible Bridge, Suite Francaise, City of Thieves), I felt this novel lacked the writing expertise that could pull the story to a higher level. The characters and details could have been explored and developed a little more. But, overall, I enjoy this interpretation of the Holocaust from a more "current" point of view rather than during the war itself.
An excellent book. Well written. Informative. Couldn't put it down.
