First of all, I love McCarthy's writing style, but his books are dark. There are few characters with any redeeming value in this book. They leave a trail of violence and murder behind them as they make their way through the Southwest. It would have been a fitting justice if the most violent among them had died a gruesome death at the end, but that didn't happen. This book is a look inside the worst of mankind.
