It is a well written novel with an unusual plot set in an exotic location. There are a few twists to the story that add drama and suspense. I found the narrator to be very sympathetic and the book touches on issues which I found to be thought provoking.

Every one had interesting comments, opinions and questions about this book, unlike other books. We are a new book club, so keep that in mind. Most people agreed that the writing was exceptional but the subject was at times absurd.

Well written story about two women scientists thrown together unwillingly in the jungle. Wonderful suspense and twists in the telling. Also enjoyed her novel Bel Canto greatly, but this author does not know how to write about romance and passion convincingly. The ending was disappointing.

How does Ann Patchett do this? She is brilliant. This novel is off the charts brilliant! Lovedlovedloved.
