I liked this book, and think that the author did a nice job with the characters. It was really mostly about the protagonist's relationship with her mother who is not well and lives in a nursing home. The only complaint was that the love story was too predictable and not believable, and I really did not like the male character. He was too perfect, yet he had been divorced three times, the last time was in the middle of this story! A guy so perfect, why would he be divorced three times? Sounds to me he loses interest too quickly and cant love for the long haul--wanted to scream at Arabelle to get out while she could since he obviously has relational issues. Anyway, it was otherwise a good book.
Good 'beach read' fairly light, but gives you some things to think about. The romance was nice, if not a little predictable, but what do you expect out of a love story? I liked it a lot. Cried at the end. I think the main character's relationship with her mother was wonderfully told.
This book is a fun, insightful look at a young teacher of a writing class and how she and her students deal with their world together in the classroom and beyond.
