Our group did not feel this author was believable nor were we sympathetic to her and we didn't think the letter format worked well. We wanted more about Iranian culture to help us and did not feel the parts in Guatemala or China were necessary.
Written as a collection of letters, the book tells the story of Jasmine, a physician who has lost her daughter in an accident. Sometimes a bit fantastic, but overall interesting. Some members of our club did feel disconnected from the protagonist and others felt that the letters format was not enjoyable. I disagreed.
