Mary Shelley had a fascinating life, and Frankenstein was her first novel. Written in the dense, descriptive language of the time, 1818, Shelley explores the ideas of nature vs. nurture, scientific responsibility, societal prejudices and extreme ambition. Thought-provoking, and interesting, Frankenstein is a book nothing like the film we have all seen. A discussion could be held on why that is.
