This is truly an inspiring book. At such a young age, the author has developed a view of the world that is awe-inspiring and hopeful. I laughed, loved and cried from start to finish. Definitely a must read for both those of the faith and without!
Bound up in youthful energy and innocence, Katie's story is one of faith and action. The reader is swamped by Katie's positive outlook on life as she gushes with demonstrative adjectives. While the reader is left wanting more facts and details, one can't help but admire Katie's efforts. Our discussion was lively.
A book about selflessness. Katie is called to do God\\\\\\\'s work, which she does willingly and with great care and compassion. A Mother Theresa in the making.
This book is an overly repetitive narrative by a young woman whose gift is serving Jesus and the needy in Uganda. Her gift is not writing, nor is it helping people to relate to her experience. It is a string of remarkable stories of extreme poverty and how the author sacrificially responds every time, told in "Christianese." What the book is lacking is down-to-earthness. Although I am convinced that the author is walking the walk of what she believes, the writing is utterly Pollyanna. Also, this book may not be appropriate for book clubs that are secular or mixed faith.
