Introduction

Georgia Ayres is a fledgling reporter fresh out of high school when she joins the staff of one of Nashville's two competing newspapers. While she expects her job to be rife with challenges, given her age and gender, she never dreamed it would also be full of uncertainty and intrigue that revolves around a mysterious man, an elderly woman, and a turn of events that could shake the local newspaper scene to its core. As she attempts to weave her way through a maze of apparent conspiracy that stretches into the local political scene and may result in the closure of one of the two Nashville papers, she also finds herself on a journey of the heart that forces her to look deep into herself. This is a story about how fear can keep us from expressing our deepest feelings to those we care about, and how friendship, regardless of how unexpected it may appear, can help us find our voice.

Vivid descriptions of Nashville in the 1960’s and 70’s and young Georgia Ayres as she struggles with fear of change and her own vulnerability make this an insightful and enjoyable book to read.
